Cranberry Lake, just west of Tupper Lake, N.Y. is the third largest of the Adirondack Lakes behind only Lake George and Great Sacandaga Lake. On the East Branch of the Oswegatchie River, nearly three-quarters of its shoreline is owned by New York State with the Five Ponds Wilderness Area (118,000 acres) to the south and most of the remaining shoreline abutting the Cranberry Lake Wild Forest.
